the temple
Potter's Field
at the feet of Annas the high priest
the Garden of Gethsemane

And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. [5] And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

4. What feast were the Jews in the process of celebrating when Jesus was crucified?

5. What Jewish feast began on the day that Jesus was resurrected?
Feast of Firstfruits
Feast of Weeks (Pentecost)
Feast of Tabernacles
Feast of Atonement
Feast of Passover

Answer: The Feast of Firstfruits (note that vss.11 and 15 tells us that the day after the Sabbath following Passover, is the day that the sheaf of the wave offering (sheaf of the first fruits - vs. 11) was performed (vs. 15). Jesus rose from the dead the day after the Sabbath (first day of the week) after the Passover. Another way to figure the answer is that the Feasts of the Passover and Fristfruits are the only ones to choose from that at this time of the year. Since Passover was already "passed", that only leaves Firstfruits. The Feast of Firstfruits is the model of the resurrected who overcome death by the power of Christ. Jesus being the first, is called the firstfruits. An interesting study is to see how Jesus fulfills (either historically or in future events to come) each of the Feasts that God established.

(John 20:1 NKJV) Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.

(Lev 23:2-15 NKJV) "Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: 'The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts. [3] 'Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; it is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. [4] 'These are the feasts of the LORD, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times. [5] 'On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the Lord's Passover. [6] 'And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the LORD; seven days you must eat unleavened bread. [7] 'On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it. [8] 'But you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD for seven days. The seventh day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it.'" [9] And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, [10] "Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: 'When you come into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest. [11] 'He shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted on your behalf; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. [12] 'And you shall offer on that day, when you wave the sheaf, a male lamb of the first year, without blemish, as a burnt offering to the LORD. [13] 'Its grain offering shall be two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, an offering made by fire to the LORD, for a sweet aroma; and its drink offering shall be of wine, one-fourth of a hin. [14] 'You shall eat neither bread nor parched grain nor fresh grain until the same day that you have brought an offering to your God; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. [15] 'And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: ...........

9. What is the meaning of the name of the robber whom Pilate released instead of Jesus?

Answer: Barabbas, which means son of a father (also, son of shame, confusion)[click on "son of father" above to see info from the Blue Letter Bible tools —also see note below].

(Mat 27:16-22 KJV) And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas. [17] Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ? [18] For he knew that for envy they had delivered him. [19] When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him. [20] But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. [21] The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas. [22] Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

(Mark 10:46 KJV) And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

(Mark 14:36 KJV) And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

Note: Isn't it interesting that the only, unique Son of the Heavenly Father traded places with a "son of an earthly father" to provide our salvation.

10. What does the Apostle Paul think about the importance of the Resurrection?
It is not important to our faith.
It is true, but our faith does not "depend" on it, Christ's sacrificial death is more important.
It is important for our faith, but not crucial.
It is essential for our faith, for otherwise our faith is futile.

Answer: It is essential for our faith, for otherwise our faith is futile.
(1 Cor 15:12-20 NKJV) Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? [13] But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. [14] And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. [15] Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up; if in fact the dead do not rise. [16] For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. [17] And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! [18] Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. [19] If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. [20] But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
